What is Reiki?

I have been a certified Third-Degree Reiki Master/Teacher since the age of 18. Reiki is a Japanese technique used for stress reduction, relaxation, and promotes healing. It is administered by the "laying on of hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then you are more likely to get sick or feel stress. When it is high, you are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God Force" or "Universal Force" and Ki which is "life force energy." In essence, Reiki is a "spiritually guided life force energy."

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

What to Expect During Your Reiki Session

During a Reiki Session/Treatment, Reiki energy flows from my hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table, but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed.
I begin by placing my hands on or near your body in a series of hand positions. My hands will only come in contact with parts of your body that you are comfortable with.

If you are not comfortable with me touching you Reiki still works; I simply hold my hands a few inches above each position. These positions begin around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and then the feet. I may use more specific positions based on the client's needs. Each position is held for two to five minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position. The whole treatment usually lasts and hour.

What Does a Reiki Treatment Feel Like?

What you will experience during a Reiki treatment varies from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by every client. In addition, you may feel a glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them.

As the Reiki energy encourages you to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings, a feeling of peace and well-being is experienced. Some of my clients have drifted off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies. At the end of the treatment, you feel refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.

Reiki Works in Conjunction with Medical/Psychological Treatments

Reiki works in conjunction with your regular medical or psychological treatments. If you have a medical or psychological condition, it is recommended that you see a licensed healthcare professional in addition to receiving Reiki treatments. Reiki Energy works in harmony with all other forms of healing, including drugs, surgery, psychological care or any other method of alternative care and will improve the results.

Reiki has had a positive effect on all forms of illness and negative conditions from minor things like head or stomach aches, allergies, tension and anxiety as well as serious illnesses like heart disease, cancer, leukemia, etc. The side effects due to regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated: the negative effects of chemotherapy, post-operative pain and depression as well as improving the healing rate and reducing the time required to stay in the hospital.
Reiki always helps and, in some cases, people have experienced complete healings which have been confirmed by medical tests before and after the Reiki treatments. However, while some have experienced miracles, they cannot be guaranteed. Stress reduction with some improvement in your physical and psychological condition is experienced the most.

How Does a Distant Reiki Session Work?

A distant Reiki Treatment works through Intention. You and I will agree upon a time for your session and discuss any goals you may have for the session.  At the appointed time, you should be sitting or lying down in a quiet comfortable place, so as not to be disturbed for the length of the session.

I prepare for your session in the same manner as for an in-person treatment. I will visualize your body in my mind and focus on your name and location. The Reiki Energy is directed to similar positions on your body in the same way as if you are in-person with me.

For Distant Reiki sessions, Intent is key. My intention is to use the Reiki symbols of the Second Degree to connect with your body and treat the various ailments and goals that you need.  After the session, take a few moments to remain still before getting up. Open your eyes and allow yourself to readjust to your surroundings.
